NATO in the face of strategic competition

The current geopolitical situation is dominated by strategic competition between the major powers. The Atlantic Alliance must undergo a new transformation to adapt to this reality. At the London meeting last December, the allies pointed out the "opportunities and challenges" posed for the Atlantic Alliance by the emerging power of China, an aspect that appears for the first time in a political declaration of the organization. The need for a strategic review to update the Alliance's goals is the main outcome of the meeting. This reflection must provide answers to two complex and politically essential questions: Washington's commitment to keep NATO as a core element of its grand strategy and the Alliance's relationship with Russia and China.  (Leer más)
